Kris Sanchack

Dr. Kristofer Sanchack is currently the accompanist for the statewide Melody Makers of Indiana. Kristofer's wide-ranging musical career began with his study of piano with local teacher Evelyn Shaw. He was privileged to continue his studies through Curtis Institute of Music mainstay Freda Pastor Berkowitz, whose close colleagues included Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. Dr. Sanchack received a B.M. in Composition with Honors and High Distinction from Penn State University. While attending Penn State, Dr. Sanchack accompanied and/or performed with six different choruses, including women's, men's and mixed choruses, as well as the State College Choral Society. He holds an M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of South Carolina, where he received an assistantship in Accompanying, and a D.M. in Choral Conducting at Indiana University, writing his dissertation on the Berlioz Grande Messe des Morts, Op. 5. Dr. Sanchack has served as Director of Youth and Children's Music at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, as well as the Keyboard Artist for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. Dr. Sanchack has led choral music at several leading universities, including Brevard College, Hollins University, and the University of Indianapolis. As a pianist, Dr. Sanchack has appeared with the Asheville Symphony, Greenville Symphony and Indianapolis Symphony orchestras. In 2014, Dr. Sanchack was appointed Visiting Director of Choral Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, and was appointed Director of Choral Activities at Trine University in Angola, IN in 2015.
